Hi thank you for viewing my post. I recently purchased a 2011 seadoo rxp x255 it has 82 hours on it. It runs perfectly fine on the hose on the trailer. I noticed after exiting a no wake zone. It was bogging on wide-open throttle & not accelerating. No misfire, no check engine light. Just falling on its face. If you whack the throttle 5 to 7 times it eventually clears out like a loaded up to stroke. After that it seems to run fine on the water. I asked my local Sea-Doo dealer what they thought could be going on. They didn't seem to have much to say other than a $200 water test & additional diagnostics would be in order.

You may have an injector that is partially stuck open and putting to much fuel into the cylinder at low speeds. You can pull the rail/injectors and energize it and see what the spray looks like.

If you google Mr. Injector you can get info on having injectors cleaned. You pull them, mail them to him, and get them back in just a few days. He does them for a very reasonable price.

I was considering that possibility. I disconnected the coils & removed the fuel rail. Cranked it over a few times. All 3 injectors are spraying evenly & none were leaking under pressure during the inspection.

I would find a way to test fuel pressure while running on the water. This way you can actually see and confirm a critical part of the system.

Spark plugs almost ALWAYS fix the 4-strokes with the exception of a check engine light...

That was what my problem was. I had one injector almost completely clogged. It's relatively cheap and can only increase performance.

So are injectors a common cause of problems on these skis? I've always ran 2 stokes up to this point.

They are not a "common" issue but certainly not unusual. Spark plugs are the biggest failure on the 4-tecs.

Bad fuel or dirty fuel contribute to injector issues.

Well I figured out what was wrong with the ski... I have no idea how was even running at all. Believe it or not it wasn't really running all that bad [emoji51] But there's a major water leak in the inner cooler!
