Can anyone help me ?
My 2011 Challenger 210 was under water for a couple of hours and now after cleaning and repairs by the dealership in Cancun Mexico, both engines are running but the starboard engine tachometer has no signal.
I have searched the forums but any mention of the wiring schematics do not match the wire colors in my boat as all references say that the tachometer signal wire is grey, and there are no grey wires coming into my tachometers ??
Can anyone tell me which wire color should be giving the tachometer signal and where I should look for the fault ?
All fuses and breakers shave been cleaned and any bad have been replaced, and all connectors have been cleaned.
Thank-you,
Tony

sorry i cant help....i am just curious how a new boat ended up under water? I would have pushed for the insurance company to total it.Regardless how it was cleaned, you will have long term electrical gremlins like this.

Thank-you for your gifted insight !
Now if someone helpful could tell me which color wire is the signal for the tachometer ???

Tony, Hi and welcome to the forum.

Can you follow any wire from the tach back to the nearest plug connection?
It's possible that the tach itself is now bad.

BTW, we are all curious on how it was sunk.....plugs left out, storm, Etc??????
I thought boats and skis had enough "float foam" to stay afloat w/o sinking completely.

Hi Seadoobuddy,
Since you ask in a civil manner, we had an unexpected storm in late October 2011, my Challenger 210 was sitting about 3 feet out of the water on a 4500 lb craftlander lift, a large wave swept the boat off the lift in the early morning hours.
I spent the next two hours getting the lift partially dismantled to drop the cradle as the boat was trapped between the dock and the lift battering the boat to pieces and the dock, towed the boat (which did not sink completely but the engine bay area was flooded) to a sandy piece of beach nearby and beached it. For the next 3 hours the waves kept filling the boat with sand and water.
Once the storm let up we immediately towed the Challenger off the beach and filled it with fresh water while pumping out sand and water till the boat was relatively clean and emptied of water inside. Early the next day the boat was delivered to the Sea-doo dealer with instructions to clean and start the engines asap, which of course they didn't for several weeks !
We have gone through all the electrics and changed the main switch, 4 breakers and several connectors and lubricated everything with WD40 and superlube, now everything on the boat is working except one tachometer.
And I ask again can ANYBODY reading the forum tell me which color wire running into the tachs is the signal wire ???
In the past it was a grey wire, but my boat does not have a grey wire running to the tachometers.
I do not think the tach is bad as the instrument panel stayed dry and out of the water.

I wasn't trying to be a smart a$$ or be negative with you. I even stated sorry i don't have the answer. Then I stated the truth, you are going to have long term problems. No questions about it. I would have fought the insurance company to total it.

You never did answer my question...how did a fairly new boat sink?

Hi RFoster,
Post #8 details how the boat was partially sunk.
I did not reply negatively to your post but to the d***head CHUCKED.
I do not have insurance on the boat so if it is written off it is a $ 50,000.00 loss to me (cost of the boat in Mexico).
