Hi There,

I am new to this forum. I came upon this site while searching for information on my new 2010 RXTX SeaDoo. To say that I am a little disapointed with the performance of my new machine would be an understatement. For some reason this 260 hp PWC strugles to reach a top speed of 40 mph? Does anyone else have this problem with this model and if so how can it be fixed?

what color is the key you were using? i just got a seadoo and it came with two keys. one is a learning key (top speed limited) and the other is an unrestricted key. today was my first day out and it hit 65 mph no problem. mine is a 215, and i'm pretty sure your's should hit at least 67-68 mph.

Thanks For Your Reply

Hi There!

I wish I could get that kind of speed out of my PWC. Mine has two keys as well. One is yellow and the other is green. The green key says learning on it so I never used it and went straight for the yellow key which is the normal key. This is so frustrating knowing that I should be able to go a lot faster. It seems like the engine RPM tops out at 5 or 6k even when the throtle is half or fully engaged. Thanks again...

At least you are under warranty. Go have a cold beer and drop it off to the dealer on Tuesday.

i gotta go with jim on this one. normally i'm all for doing work myself, but with a new toy under warranty, i'd let the dealer take care of it. mine gets up to high 7k range. your's should reach a little higher top speed and a little higher rpm's. hopefully it's just something stupid like the throttle cable isn't adjusted properly, lol.

Ahh indeed a cold beer sounds great

Excellent advice. I think I will stop stressing over this and do just that.. and have a cold one.

Learning key....?

Use the learning key. Take it out, put the learning key on the post and run with it for few minutes. Then, shut it down and trade the keys out and go to the unlimited key.

I'm not sure but it seems I remember someone saying that when you first get the ski, the electronics are geared to you using the learning key while going over the features of the ski before unleashing the full potential of the motor. Then, once you've rode with that learning key, you should be able to get full power from your green key........

Not sure if that's totally true, but seems I've heard this before......

Green Key V. Yellow Key

Hi,

Good info., I never thought about that. I will give it a try tomorrow and see if it works.

Thanks,

Doug

Mine is doing the same thing

2010 RXT-X only 3 hours on it.. does the same thing top speed 45 mph top rpm 6000.. it's at the dealer now.

Top Speed Issues

Hey,

I figured it out, or rather the dealer did. The supercharger hose became disconnected. Apparently there is a recall on new SEADoo's of this model. Anyhoow, the machine pulls like you would not believe, lots of power and speed now (almost frightening....almost).

Doug

Guys cool down....

The new 2010 Seadoo all models...................
1st 10Hrs service both the green and yellow key will act same as learning key. Only once 10hrs is serviced the dealer will update the key so the Rude 260Hp awakes.... so cool down nothing to worry about.
Raven.

It's the SC Hose

Both of us took our RXT-X back to the dealer and both Seadoos had a disconnected supercharger hose. Once fixed, I can assure you that the water craft would pull like you could not believe. bottom line.. no supercharger... no acceleration or speed. I never use the learning key. Got 6 hours on it( gonna put more on it today) I can't imagine it going any faster or accelerating faster. But we will see after the 10 hour service.

Thanks,
Christine

I have a 2009 RXT-X with 6 hrs on it. I just changed to the yellow key and it hits 70mph no prob. Pulls like a rocket, it is rather cool having one of the fastest boats on the lake... :)

Swap your grate for an R&D, your oem intake for a 4" or better up front and a teller prop.....then...hold on.

I had the same problem with mine. Hose blew off super charger at around 3 hours. I now have 45 hours and no additional problem with it. PS For awesome performance make sure you're running in Sport Mode insteas of the default Touring Mode.
