Not without modification.

You would have to re-flash the computer or purchase an aftermarket speed control override module. Not sure if you know the "shortcut" to get to sport mode. All you have to do is hold the set button down for 3 seconds at any time until you hear it beep, then push once more for confirmation. You don't have to cycle through all the functions on the display to get to the sport mode selection.

The speed contol module does it do away with the satellite and give more top end. I saw a thread on it but cant find it again .... And i did not know about the short cut thanks

Yes it will remove the speed limiter, but you are not going to see significant gains unless you do further modifications. Removing the limiter alone may only give you 1-2 MPH more.

If you are interested, search the net for RXT-X Stage 1, 2, and 3 upgrades.

Just a question ...

Have you guys ever put a portable GPS in your storage bin and got a reading of how fast the RXT is? I'm just right curious as to what these do on the water. There was some newer seadoo "sport" skis that cooked by me on the bay this past weekend while i was in the speedster... I was doing at least 45mph.

The speedometers in the new high end skis are already clocked via built in GPS, so no need to bring your own. My RXT-X will hit 70 MPH.

I hit 72 on my RXT. Half a tank of gas and I weigh 165... My slow ski hits 58 all day long but after that it is hard to get much more out of her..

If the speed displayed is determined by the "built in GPS' then why is there a speed sensor mounted in the usual place on the rear of the hull?

GPS works off of satellites and you need connections to 4 different satellites to accurately do positioning and calculate speed. Sometimes you cannot get 4 good signals and therefore, your seadoo will revert to its "best estimate" on your speed. There is a light on the dash that will light up when you have a good GPS signal. I have only see my light go off once, and it was only for a minute or two.

Also, there is no speed sensor that I can see mounted in the "usual" place on my RXT-X. I take it you mean "usual" to be the pump area.

Is the 65mph-70+mph stock? If so that's really impressive!! I also think adding a GPS to the dash is great idea!!

Best I've seen on my gti (130) is 52 mph .... you guys wanna race!! LoL

Yes, that is stock. My ski will run 69 MPH steadily. I normally cannot stay at 70 for too long as the RPMs will cut back just a hair and drop me back to 69. Engine is running right around 7850-7900 RPMs.

Well, I was off a bit on that one. I forgot they changed to GPS speed sensing in 2010. And no, you won't have a speed sensor mounted in the rear, next to the pump.

Speed sensors

There is no speed sensor on the back of the S3 hulls but there is on the previous versions.... I own both 2008 RXT-X and a 2010 S3 hull RXT-X. I recommend replacing the stock glove box lid on the pre-2010 ski's with one that holds a Garmin. Tight fit, looks sweet. The speed off of the old speed sensors is not accurate. Hear people say their mid aged RXT's will do 70 but I just leave them behind.

My stock '08 hits 70 on glass with under a half tank of gas and my stock '10 hits 68 in the same conditions. I'm a big dude ... these ski's haul.

Add GPS to your glove box lid ...

Add it to the glove box on an older ski. Replace the glove box lid to the one designed to hold the Garmin. Easy install and looks trick ...
