2009 GTX 215 performance benchmarking

Hello all - new owner just this week, and new forum member, so sorry in advance if this is a basic question... :)

I picked up a 2009 GTX 215 with about 75 hours on it, and given that it's one of only about three PWCs I've ever driven, I'm curious to know how its performance measures up with other folks experience, and whether any gaps that may exist between mine and others' might indicate any mechanical/maintenance issues.

I'm a pretty light rider (135-140 lbs.), and although I didn't have what I'll call unlimited room, I was only able to get it up to about 64mph. The previous owner (a friend of the family) had said it did 70mph. I know it's had the impeller and impeller cylinder/tube/sleeve (probably not the right term, but you get it...) replaced due to sucking up some shoreline debris. I don't know whether the 70mph reading was before or after that work, and whether that kind of work could have an impact on ultimate speed, but it just doesn't seem as quick as another 215 that I drove (could be the rose colored glasses of the other 215 being my first ride, though...).

What have people seen for top speeds, 0-50s, etc. on these machines, unmodified? How much of an impact on top speed would a slight chop have as compared to glassy smooth water? Were the '09 GTX 215s top speed limited?

Thanks for any help you can provide - look forward to joining the SD community!

Heat's a speed killer. A well maintained and operating 215 will hit 65 or a lil better...gps. The dreamo-meter should read about 69-70.

More importantly...how high will your tach show?....8300?

Haven't been back on it yet, but hoping to tomorrow - will check tach reading and post update as soon as I can. I assume by "dreamo-meter", you're implying the Sea-Doo speedo is a bit... ahem... optimistic?
