A friend brought his ski over neededing a key programmed. What a trick that was with the Candoo. I only do 2 strokes so that was a new process on the 4. After we got it started we found out it was only running on the front cylinder. I didn't do any checks other than clean the plugs and couldn't find my spark checker so.... not much data. Owner is going to replace the plugs but I'm not sure that is going to fix anything. These are the codes I have. I'm thinking a bad battery may well be the only thing wrong with the ski. Help/advice is appreciated. :D

P1502 - TOPS functional problem.
P0562 - Low battery voltage.

That battery thing on all skis, motorcycles is so, so common. It can (as you already know) easily be static tested or swapped out to check the ski and eliminate that possibility.

My point today is that these small and powerful wet batteries just need to go in the recycle pile after 2 or 3 years weather they appear to work or not. It's a tough sell for some, but it will save you STUPID amounts of grief and worry in the long run.

What I have found with my ski (2003 GTX 4-tec) and my 1999 FXR2 and 2013 Road King is this. Install the correct AGM (absorbed glass mat) replacement battery and you will never look back for at least 3 or 4 years. Pull out and/ or connect a battery tender during the "off season". DONE.

Yes, they are expensive, but well worth it when you get in the water and hit the START button!

I don't play with batteries on my skis but to get some people to buy a good battery is extremely difficult. I like when they say, "I just charged it." Ohhhhh... they just don't get it. Problem is, batteries for watercraft are junk for the money. The battery in my Harley isn't much more expensive and it lasts for years. Oh well. My friend did say he replaced the spark plugs and it ran much better and he will replace the battery in the spring so that is a win. :)

Don't clean plugs , scrap them, and most of them look great but don't work.
