Took my new to me Wake out today, first time on the water. Boat has 82 hours, fresh SC rebuild and runs great on the trailer. Unloaded and it ran great, idled out past no wake zone and took off. It was hauling the mail then just fell on its face. I limped it back, seemed to be running on 2 cylinders. It would try to clear up and run a couple of times. Could this be as simple as spark plugs? They looked ok so I don't know if this is the problem. I started it out of the water again and it sounded horrible. Let me know your thoughts, I'll get some plugs and try again next weekend.

Check the hose clamps from the sc to throttle body.

Thanks all, I will try new plugs and check the SC boot but I'm pretty sure I checked it yesterday, it does have the correct Oeliker clamp on it. I don't know about fuel stabilizer but I did add about half a tank before starting it so it has at least half a tank of fresh fuel. Hopefully it's just the plugs or something easy!

Sometime the coils that are on top of the plugs can fail. Check these next if you can't find anything wrong. Down load a engine maintance manual if you can. Go thur the trouble shooting area. Sometimes you can find them for free or you can become a premium member and get all the manual from this site.

Generally, when the hose comes off of the SC'r you will loose about 20-25 MPH. But it normally does not cause it to run rough.

I would also suggest doing another run. If it runs well when it is cold, then it is likely a component failing or a poor connection at a critical component such as a spark plug wire or coil.
