I am very new to the Sea-doo and PWC world, as this is my first ski, so forgive me for any noob questions. I have done a good bit of research and i work in the automotive industry so im somewhat familiar with mechanics. The issue i am having is my Ski wont hold idle. I can fire it up and if i hold the throttle i can ride it no problem. it gets up and goes just fine and will run like a champ otherwise. Now this all started after i had the SC rebuilt. it used to run just fine and idle no problem when the SC was dead. I have checked all vacuum connections and lines and have not found any issues. I purchased the ski with a bad supercharger so i am not sure what to think as to why now it wont idle. Any info or direction would be great. I have also replaced spark plugs just to be on the safe side. Thanks in advance!

Had a similar issue with my RXP turned out to me a bad map sensor but my ski wasn't shutting off but very close to it. You can also check your idle adjustment screw. Its on the throttle body, a small allen key I believe.

Thanks for the tip. i will try and test that out. I have a buddy with a 2007 GTX so i can swap sensors to see if that helps. I have thought of just adjusting the set screw for the throttle, but didnt see why that wouldve changed unless the mechanic who installed the SC tweaked it a bit somehow.

Try the set screw first. Idle should be around 1800. You have the 215 engine right? Any codes coming up on the cluster?

DON'T TOUCH ANY SCREWS ON THE THROTTLE BODY! This is not a 2 stroke engine. The idle speed is controlled by the ECU via the idle air controller valve. The valve could be bad, but there are a whole host of other things that could cause it not to idle like it should.

If you messed with the set screw on the throttle body, throw it out, buy a used one on ebay, and charge XP787 for giving you bad advice, LOL.

I agree. The "hard idle" is something you should never have to touch. You have an IAC issue, or an air issue most likely.

This ski requires BUDS or a CanDoo Pro to properly diagnose the issue.

What you can do is change the spark plugs as they fail and cause all kinds of issues as well as make sure the air intake system is as it should be. All parts connected well and nice and clean.

Thanks for the info guys. I will be sure not to mess with the set screw.

I will test out the IAC valve and report back. It does act like it has a leak somewhere but i have not found any loose connections. Also i have already replaced plugs on it with brand new NGK's so i rulled that part out.

Does anyone know if these things need to "relearn" idle? i know from working in the automotive industry that sometimes we have to relearn the idle before the vehicle will run right. Not sure if this is something similar with Jetskis

The part that baffles me is it will run 100% perfect as long as i hold throttle on it.

Just trying to help out bud.

Check the hose clamps on the SC hoses to the throttle body. Just replaced SC, then the hose could be loose or misaligned..

I send my bills to Coastiejoe. Lol

They relearn the IAC opening setting every time you put the key on. The IAC valve runs to fully closed position, then opens up a standard amount a little over what should be the right spot for idle. When you start, it tries to keep the idle at 1800 RPM.

Put your ear down close to the throttle body, put the key on the post, then remove the key. You should hear the IAC valve cycle.

Thanks, i will give that a try and see what i can hear (or not hear).

**Update**

So i swapped out IAC valves and still no idle. checked all hose clamps and to no avail, i still can not idle. its a sad day on the water for this guy.

You need to invest in a candoo home edition it will give you the fault codes and you can fix your jetski. I bought one and it has paid for itself . For me at least
