Hi all, new guy here. I just bought a 2007 gti se 155 with 21hrs on it. The last owner had the 15hr service done last year. Then rode it for about 5 hours. This was 10 months ago. Didn't have much fuel, but he did put stabil in it. Took it out this past weekend after filling the tank up. All was fine for a couple of hours off and on. Then all of a sudden, it would just die. The fuel gauge showed 3/4 tank. I would start just fine and idle for a little bit, and then die again. Saw the 12v low light come on. Brought it in and saw the + cable really loose. Tightened it up and thought we fixed it. Next day topped of fuel and same thing happened when it got to 3/4 tank. Took it home and decided to try some spark plugs. Took it out the next day, but this time I didn't top it off with fuel. Idled for a couple minutes in the no wake zone then got on it. This time it lasted for about 1 minute. Then it died again. It would start again and idle for about 30 seconds, then die again. What is happening at 3/4 tank of fuel? We brought up fuel venting, or a lack there of, but have not checked the cap yet. What else could it be? Any help would be greratly appreciated. Jerry.

Another idea

The only replacable filter I know of is a screen on the bottom of the pick;up assembly in the tank. If the screen is clogged, a fuller tank might create just enough pressure to push some fuel through. There is discussion about replacing this screen at sea-doo.net.

If you fill it up, does it run OK from full down to 3/4 of a tank?
Yes. Once we found the + battery cable real loose, we thought that was the problem. So we filled it back up on the second day. Once it hit about 3/4 tank, it died again. At that point, it would only idle for a minute or so. Then it would die again. If I gave it any gas, it would get to about 4k rpm, it would act like it was flooded, and just die. And on the 3rd day, I didn't fill it up at all. I idled through the no wake zone for about 2-3 minutes, and then it was full throttle for almost a minute, and then it happened again. It just seemed like it was flooded and it died again. At that point it would start, but only idle. Any throttle, and it would bog down and die.

sounds like fuel pickup tube cracked , loose , or cloged. May also be anti syphon valve if installed. Also check tank vent line and check valve.Hope this helps. post results.

Well, I decided to take it in due to the fact that I am too busy with work. I will let you all know what the fix is. Jerry.

Well, it ended up being a bad fuel pump. Amazing that it would go bad after only 20+ hours. They tested the fuel pressure and it was 45psi steady and then under a load it dropped to 20psi. Took it to the lake and rode around for a couple hours and everything seems to be running good. Total bill was $620. Not cheap at all. I have always used fuel stabil and will definitely use it religiously in the future. I don't want to have this happen again. Jerry.

Wasn't there posted somewhere on this web site that you could use a Ford Bronco fuel pump, or something at a much cheaper price???

I don't own skis with fuel pumps, but could in the future. It would be nice to know!!

Hey, if that starts to happen again...

My XP did that. Ran fine for several hours, then started to stall out after I burned the first 1/4 tank off.

I thought it was the fuel baffle, but ended up being (somehow, don't know how this affected it) the fuel selector switch.

Runs fine now, no stalling.

I only doubt your fix because 1) I don't trust dealers, and 2) if it was fuel pump, it should do it all the time or none of the time.

But, hey! What do I know. Mine fixed itself with the new selector switch...

Hey Scoop,
I am with you. I don't trust dealers. That is why I read this forum everyday for thing that pertain to my situation or possible future situation. :agree::agree:

Well, I didn't take it to a dealer. A couple of my friends have ski's and they reccomended this place to me. It is a small shop and they do good work. In fact they have so much work, it took 2 weeks to get my ski back. And he gave me my old fuel pump as well. I agree with you on the dealer part. I would not take it to the dealer where I live either. Have not heard good things about them. Jerry.

I wasn't doubting your fix, I was just agreeing with Scoop on Dealers in general. It is great that you have a place where you can go when all else fails. It is also great that your ski is fixed...now let's ride.

I just assumed you meant to a dealer.

Good thing you have other options when you need repairs

Well, good news. Took it out last weekend for the whole day. Everything worked great. Actually, we needed to fill up with fuel later in the day. So I am very happy with the fix. Now I can rest easy. And we had a lot of fun. Weather was great also. On another note, was talking to someone about what happens if the seadoo flips over in the water. I thought I read on here somewhere that a lot of work needs to be done in a short amount of time. Does this apply to mine since it has its own cooling system? Just want to make sure. Thanks again, Jerry.
