First off, great forum! I am a new member and have a quick question. I am looking at a used 2007 or 2008 Sea Doo RXT and want to know if there are anything specific to look for. This would be my first pwc purchase. Not sure what year Sea Doo changed from the ceramic bearings . Is that something I need to look at for a 2007 or 2008?

If they can't provide bona fide documentation of them being changed, assume that they need to be changed immediately. Also, check the compression in each cylinder. Always go for a test ride.

That's just for starters. I'm sure others will chime in.

08 has steel. However, I have seen some 08 with Ceramic. I am guessing an early build or left over stock of SCr from the 07.

07 and newer has solid core exhaust valves. The 06 does not. Avoid 06 down to 04.

Great ski. I love mine.

If it is a 07 assume it has ceramic washers. If it does change them ASAP!! Unless they have documentation the charger has been rebuilt. Test ride it and you should see 7750-7950 depending on the weather, rider weight, and fuel level. Make sure the antifreeze in the jug looks good. That's about it really.

Ok just got some more info on it. It is a 2008 RXT 215 with 400 hours. Supposed to just had service done. I did not see the documentation yet, but they want 5k.

If the compression is around 135 and it rides and drives well, the money is fair. If they cannot prove the supercharger was rebuilt, it is worth $500 less.

Can you find them for less, yes. That said, it depends on the area and the time of year as well.
4-tec skis are not cheap. They were not cheap when built and not easy to steal at this time of year.

400 hours? $5k? Ever heard the term R.L.H? That's what you should be doing. You can get under 100 hour skis in KY for not much more than $5k. OHio shouldn't be much different.

Northern skis are always higher, that said, they normally have much lower hours.

I owned my first set (lived in Ohio for 40 plus years) of Polaris skis for 11 years. When I sold them I got 5 grand for the pair and they had 110 hours on them. One was a 98 and one was a 97.

Stick to 07 and up. You don't wait the bad valve storm cloud following you everywhere. You can get a lower hour 07-08 in the $5k range. I know from experience!
