Greetings from IRELAND
I have a problem that i hope someone of you good people can help with.
The forward/N/Reverse lever is very stiff. I can operate the bucket from outside the boat no problem but the lever at the helm will not always engage the full way forward and as a result the throttle will not work. I had a look and I think there is water getting in at the seal where the cable comes through the stern. The lever has become stiffer since my second trip on the boat and has got progressively worse while layed up over the winter.Does this make any sense?
Only 9 hours on the clock and the nearest person with Seadoo knowledge is 6 hours by road away. Will I get a maintenance indication at 10 hours on my display as I could change the oil myself but I suppose I cannot reset any maintenance details without software.
Only received one key/lanyard at new. Is this correct and do I again have to go to a specialist to get another.
Many thanks in anticipation
Frank

Welcome to the seadoo forum Frank. It sounds like the Gear Shift cable is bad and needs replacement. It can't be lubricated as it is sealed to keep out water. It needs replacement. I would pull the control lever out of the boat, 4 screws on the cover , than 4 more screws to allow the control to come out of the boat. Lube the control levers and see it it doesn't work smoother after it is lubed. if not THE cable will have to be replaced. Keep us posted on you progress or if you get in a jam.

Thank you Karl for taking the time to reply.
I had already pulled the 8 screws holding the lever to the deck. Very clean and free here.
Did spray easing penetrating oil onto the reverse cable where it comes through the hull just before connection to pin lever assembly. There is a large boot at this point and when the reverse gate is moved forward and back a little droplet of water is expelled from around this seal. I appreciate it when you say the cable is supposed to be water tight . I am just wondering if anybody else has noticed this and if this might be where the trouble is.
Same solution I suppose change the cable and see. Is changing the cable a DIY job or would you suggest I haul it to somebody who has completed this before.
Any ideas on the one key supplied and whether i will get a maintenance check at 10 hours on my display.
Regards
Frank

Frank, 10 hrs old...is it still under warranty? have the dealer replace it under warranty. If not it could be done you yourself. As far as the 10 hour maintenance, if it does show "MAINT", push the set button and hold it for couple seconds and it will reset. If you need info on changing the oil in you 4-tec let me know. I have part numbers and procedure to change the oil out. If you want you could join as a "premium member". As a premium member you can down load a authentic seadoo manual from the seadoo manual library. In the library is a variety of manuals for almost all years and models.
