So ive finally made my first jetski purchase
Was looking at getting an XP but decided to go for something better
Ended up getting a 2006 RXT 215 S/C with 43 hours on it :D Took it to a jetski shop for a Pre Purchase Inspection and they found absolutely nothing wrong with her so i jumped on that sale straight away

Cant wait to take it out but unfortunately is cold and miserable down in Australia, which brings me to my first question
Whats the best way to store skis? Ive been told you have to fill the tank full with petrol and put a fuel stabilizer in there so that the tank doesn't get any condensation in it which can cause damage later?

Also is a fogging kit necessary or can i use Inox mx-3?

Good for you! It sounds like you're in for a ton of fun...(when it warms up a bit). Spend some time reading up, there are several good threads on winterization in here.
43 hours? Again, Good for you!
By the way, are you familiar with, or did your shop talk to you about, the SC ceramic washer issue within the clutch assembly that exists in pre '08 RXT's?
If not, make SURE you do your homework there....there are LOTS of threads available on that topic. Did you test drive it before you bought it?

Good Luck to Ya

Thanks for the reply, yeah hopefully take it out on the water as soon as it starts to warm up here in aus. No the jet ski shop didn't tell me about the s/c washers but I have managed to read up about it and has worried me quiet a bit. I'm not sure if the washers have been changed as it was in for a service at seadoo Australia before I purchased it.I will have to make sure they are changed before going out on the water.

I haven't managed to find much about winternization, I have been reading up on it and it seems like I do need to fill the tank with petrol for no condensation however is it necessary to change the oil before taking it out as it was fully services with new oil, battery etc??

Congrats on the new ride. Pull the intake hose off the sc and with the motor off try to turn the blades.

If the oil isn't milky...you can wait till the season starts for a plug/oil change.

Full tank of gas, a can of Sea-Foam or Stabil and tuck it in for the winter...mind the battery and then wait for riding weather.

Thanks for the info
I pulled off the intake hose and tried to spin the blades, it was fairly hard to spin it but I noticed there was a bit of play when moving it back and forth. I'm not to sure what that means. I took a picture of the intake on the supercharger which I can post up later if there is a way to tell?

A 1/16" of an inch of play is norm. If you were able to spin the blades w/o cutting your fingers...your clutch washers may be slipping. In any event...before the season starts "I'd" pull the sc and send it for a complete rebuild.....but then...I'm a paranoid sob. Unless that shop pulled the sc and told you that it's clutch washers were replaced metal ones from say an '08 rebuild kit?

Yeah i managed to spin the blades a little but it was fairly difficult. The thing is, the ski was in for a pre purchase inspection and i was told that the ski is in perfect condition and only that the supercharger has a little corrosion from salt water and will need to be taken out and rebuilt later down the track. In the picture you can see quiet a bit of corrosion however i was told it does not affect the ski apart from it not allowing the ski to rev high as freely as it wants due to the corrosion. Id assume the washers are not visible from the pictures attached?

No washers are inside the mag cover, if you have a torque wrench and a 17mm (long) socket, put the torque wrench at 40in lbs and see if it slips if it does get them outta there. If the washers are healthy it should slip around 60in lbs. I just did a rebuild on a 05' rxt that dropped a washer, it got stuck on the thrust washer in lower crankcase and severly damaged the lower case.
