2006 rxt wont start.

When I put the key on the post, two long beeps, followed by 4 fast beeps. It doesnt matter if I put the key on the post, or just a magnet, it does the same thing, so there is a communication issue. How do I know if the key is bad, or the ecm? I only have one key, and the gauges are shot.

Never mind, it is fixed. The center of the key cap needed to be cleaned better.

Maybe your DESS post is getting worn out. Happens.

I just replaced it last year. I hit it and the key with sandpaper yesterday, and it didnt help so I didnt think that was the problem. Used a pencil eraser tonight, and BAM, started right up.

If they match why do you need 2 if 1 is ok?.... Dealer said needed to be ‘paired’ what?...?...?

Not sure what you are asking but it is nice to have 2 keys a s a spare.

Your dealer meant "paired" as in the key programmed to your ECU. Sometimes ECUs can sort of reset and lose all keys that were programmed to it. Not your problem in this case.
