2006 GTI starting problem

Battery is new, fuses are good, just a clicking (tapping) sound coming from soelnoir that is attached to positive cable from battery and other cable leading to the starter.

You will need to get a volt meter and see if the solenoid is applying 12 volts to the starter cable when the start button is pushed. If not then the solenoid is bad.
