Good evening, I am hoping you guys/gals will be able to assist me. I recently bought my first boat 2005 sportster 215. I love the boat but good god the learning curve. The day I bought it every thing worked great on a 30 min test ride. The next day again everything was working well for about an hour and a half. After that i was in a no wake area for about 25 mins then the boat started feeling like there was a fuel issue. I turned it off let it cool down started back up and it was perfect again. next day I took it out ran perfect then my fault i sucked the rope up inside. I swam it to shore got it home and pulled the rope out. today i take it had trouble starting but then fired right up after the third time pushing the button. ran fine again for about 45 mins, then the gauges stopped working, but the boat seemed fine. brought it back to shore let it cool I had to jump start it this time, once it started i drove it for about 3 mins then it started acting a fool. I know I'm all over the place but any advice. I bought it from a dealer yamaha dealer that took it on trade. as of right now i am going to pull the supercharger out send it off for rebuild, change the spark plugs, and change the oil. any suggestions? Thanks

How old is the battery? I had some goofy electrical issues on a 2004 SeaDoo pwc same engine as yours. Had a weak battery and loose connections. Might be worth a look see.

I have had 5 different Sea Doo pwcs and now a boat and they have always been extremely reliable. They LOVE new spark plugs, the correct oil level and strong batteries with tight clean and clean connections.

Also does you engine compartment blower work as it should?

Thanks for the response! I am very new to all of this. By Blower, do you mean the supercharger or is there a fan? i did notice that its extremely hot in there. Is there a button or a switch to turn it on?

You should be running the blower before and after your boat trip. They were designed for carbureted engines to rid your bilge of fuel fumes before you start the engine so your boat doesn't explode when you start it. With fuel injected engines you shouldn't have any gas fumes in the bilge unless you have a leak somewhere, if you do smell gas you shouldn't use the boat until you find the source of the leak. I run mine as I'm backing the boat in to the launch and again as I'm taking it out. I like to think it helps cooling off the engine compartment when I'm done for the day.
