2005 GTX - MPEM or ECU for new key

Need a new key can I check which one is it that require programming?

Some say the MPEM deals with the key others suggest ECU.

Nada, 2005 only year they used both a ECM and MPEM. So every other year is different .

I assume by work might mean some limited functionality?

All 4tecs from 2002-2006 use both an mpem and an ECU. The key is always programmed to the ECU, not the mpem.
