Hi people,
I could use some adivce on this 2005 Sea Doo GTX 4-TEC STD / Non Supercharged.
I have a non start issue...
It will actually - only - start by holding the throttle at about a quarter throttle and keeping it there. I can feather the throttle and keep it running fine. If I let the throttle off it will die.
Don't remember the hours, I think it's about 150 hours, I forget the exact hours but not alot for a 4 stroke.
3 New Plugs.
1 New Battery.
Compression about 135 - 140 PSI on all 3 cylinders.
Good - full oil.
Clean and good looking oil filter. No metal shavings in it at all.
Seems to crank a little slow - maybe, with NEW BATTERY- and only starts if I hold the throttle a little, like a quarter throttle. I can hold it and feather it and keep it running but if I let the throttle off it will die.
This is out of the water and no reason to hook it up to the hose as it won't keep running.
This is my first 4 stroke after having alot of fun with the 2 strokes for 25 years.
Thinking 2 stroke... I would suspect the starter bendix hanging up slowing the rev's on it.
But on this 4 stroke the bendix is separate from the starter and completely filled in oil and since there are no signs of metal shavings in the oil filter I don't think that's it.
Thinking 4 stroke... TPS or some other sensor.
The Sellers Story -
It beeped as it was low on oil. He towed it in and had the "dealer" replace the valve cover or the head gasket.
No paperwork from "dealer" to verify this.
He took it out again and after a little while it did the same thing, beeping and low on oil.
So he was done with it and I bought it.
I found that the valve cover gasket wasn't on right. It was folded over a little and not on correctly so I fixed that and topped off the oil.
The symptoms are the same after I fixed the gasket.
Any other ideas are greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks Again!!!
