Hello everyone, I am new to this forum so I am expecting a warm welcome..lol. So here is my problem.. I have a 2004 Seadoo GTX. It has 90 hours on it and i just bought it without any maintenance record. I check the compression which is 160 on all cylinder. new spark plug and oil change with filter. It Idles rough like going back and forth from 1700 to 1800 rpm. I was riding on the lake for 5 minutes after changing the spark plug but it just shut off after that i couldn't crank it again. the motor tries to crank but it doesn't start but i did manage to crank it up today after oil change for 30-40 seconds...after that it just shut off..couldn't crank it up again. sorry for my long problem..lol.. any help would be appreciated..THANX

with ski off, put lanyard on. press "SET" 5 times. Write down the P codes. Press MODE this will cycle you through active codes. Write them all down until you see "END". Post back all the P codes and we can help point you in the right directions.

Welcome to the forum btw!

Thank you so much for the reply. I just checked the code and all it says is end with long beep. It crank right up but the idle was going up and down from 1700-1800 and It revved pretty good. I am confused now..really confused. Will take it to the lake to see how it runs.

idle varying from 1700-1800 is normal. check to make sure your battery connections are tight.

check to make sure your diagnostic cap is on and there is no corrosion, it is just to the right of the MPEM.

The MPEM doesn't do much on your ski, just a fuse holder and distribution center really. The ECU controls everything and it is doubtful that it is bad. Normally 1680 is a ground issue or corroded connection, or 1A fuse blown.

all fuses are on the MPEM, also check your connections by removing each of the plugs on the MPEM and looking for any signs of corrosion. make sure your battery connections are clean and tight as well as the 3 grounds on the motor at the front.

checked all the connectors in MPEM and all the fuses. Cleaned the groundings in the engine block cranked it up and it was running like 30 seconds then it quit. it tries to crank sometimes it may stay running for 2 seconds then it quits....

I fixed it finally. It was the dirty fuel filter in the pump assembly. Changed the pump also with two new filter. Runs like a champ now.
