Before taking my 2004 Seadoo RXP out of the water last Sept. It was running well, I made a couple of short runs about 60 mph. I stored it in my heated shop all winter and in june I installed a new battery and started the engine on the trailer everything sounded good so I launched it and went about 50 to 75 yards and it sounded like I ran out of gas even though I had just filled it, and my 2006 RXP the day before. I started it again this time it went about 25 yds toward my dock and it stopped again. I tried again and it would not start. I took it to a dealer and they tell me I need a supercharger rebuild. I don’t doubt they are right as it has about 80 hours on it. Am I wrong in thinking there is something else causing my running problem? Has anyone had this happen or what would you suggest I question the dealer about or have him try.

Both? What are the hours? First owner? How long? Change the spark plugs. That will make the engine die under load and run low rpms.

The SC does need to rebuilt if it never has never been. Bad ceramic washers. New rebuilds use steel. Use the search thread for this section about this.. Cheaper to do it yourself by removing it and sending it out. One of three options.

Even with a supercharger slipping it should still run, it wont run well but it should run. Did you ever have the old ceramic washers changed out? If not they might have broke and caused damage. Might have also snapped a valve, not likely but another fault on the 04 engine.

Did you swap plugs?

Before I'd let a "stealership" rebuild an sc of mine...I'd pull the air intake and check the sc myself.

My bet...they haven't even touched it.

I made the original post I want to thank all for their help the machine is at the dealer now and will report what is found. I am new to this forum and have not learned much about how or what I can do. If this is the wrong approach I am sorry and will try and learn the proper ways to respond.
Thank you all

I made the request on this matter and the results follow. After several attempts to find the problem the service department was still trying but with no codes they were having a problem because it could be setting still and still shut down. We discussed what the purpose of the codes would show. Then I suggested it may be something to do with the kill switch. They checked this out then made a new key and every thing worked OK then they put the old key in and it stopped again. I have now been using it with the new key and the problem seems to be solved. From now on I will be carrying the learner key as a backup. Thank everyone for their help and comments

Did you rebuild your supercharger? You need to get the old washers out and new metal ones in.

Yes I had it done on both machines. I had bought them both 3 years ago and was not aware of the need to have them rebuilt until I visited this forum.
Thanks for your concern.
