can't get it to throttle up RPM'S are sky high was running fine a buddy beached it and then after that just has not run right could something have been sucked up into the intake? Any help would be awesome and thank you in advance

That could be a symptom of something being sucked up. Does it feel like a slipping clutch when you are trying to take off?

Nope just start it rpms sky rocket try to give it gas and nothing

Sounds like a cavitation issue and the need to replace the wear ring (assuming there isn't any impeller damage). Take a look in the jet pump and see how it looks.

Alright I will do that I won't get to it till Thursday but thank you for the help and I'll keep ya posted on what I find in the pump and how much play is to much play on the wear ring I am new to ski's

Cavitation for sure of one form or another..

Chances are once it was beached he sucked up sand and wiped out the wear ring. The gap between the impeller and wear ring should be no bigger than the width of a dime. If it is, it needs replaced.

That'd have to be some MASSIVE cavitation for the ski to spin RPM and go NOWHERE! Sounds like a disconnect between the engine and prop to me.

You're absolutely correct...but a lot of times members are literal with their descriptions of issues. Should have gotten clarification.

Anoxio, does it move at all when giving gas or just very slowly? Does the impeller spin when on the hose and out of the water?

It literally goes no where and I am not sure if the impeller spins I didn't really have time to check it out till tomorrow when I get back to the garage

Sitting on the trailer start up it sits at 1600 to 1700 rpms and it is spinning so I have no idea what to do now

It's very hard to truly tell if the impeller is moving at the correct rpm speed with no load. Have you actually removed the assembly to get a close look?

It's rare but possible to rip splines from the drive shaft. Residual friction would allow the impeller to rotate without load.

Pull the pump.

Many have wiped out the drive shat spline, especially on the early 2000 era skis. You pretty much have to open the pump up anyways. So tear into it. Pull the shafts, look at the splines... Under a load it is very likely that the impeller does not move based on the weight and load of the ski...

Good to hear that! Lucky it was only the wear ring!
