Hi folks,
I have a 2004 GTX 185hp, the problem that I am having is the ski will use 60 litres of fuel in 45 minutes, unbelievable?
I have checked the injectors and they are all operating correctly and delivering the equal amount of fuel, I have replaced the MAPS sensor because my initial thought was it was sending an wrong reading to the ECM, and there is no fuel leaks, the only thing that I can find wrong is the fuel pump is delivering 63 psi of fuel, which should be no more than 58 psi, this would explain the slightly brown smoke from the ski when running.

I would like to replace the pressure regulator but unfortunately they cant be bought separately, does anybody know where to get a pressure regulator for the ski without buying a complete fuel pump at a cost of 450 pounds or am I missing something

Hope some of you guys can help.

Hi,

The fuel regulator for the GTX 185 should be 44 psi. That could be your problem right there. I can find a bunch of used 58 psi regulators. I even might have a few in my garage. The 44 psi will be harder to come by. I advise not running the ski again until the fuel issue is sorted. Brown smoke does not sound good at all. Depending on how long it's been like this you might be looking at piston damage at bare minimum.

Thanks for the reply,
After I found out the fuel pressure I have not ran the ski, the problem only started in the summer, but as you think it looks like it's been the wrong regulator all along, I will have to double check the numbers, maybe somebody has fitted the wrong one? It is unusual for the regulators to fail as well, normally the pumps fail, and what concerns me more is that the ski was running perfect all last year and in the spring of this year?
So, if you dont have a regulator do you know of anywhere that will supply the regulator only, everybody I talk to want to sell the complete unit I don't want to spend all that money for a new fuel pump if there is nothing wrong with the old one?
If you find one you let me know what it's worth and we could deal maybe!

Regards,

Mo.
