Guys,
Let me just say that I am a veteran boater but a virgin PWC owner. I recently bought a 2004 GTI very low hours/use (according to owner) but the boat appears to be like brand new.
I have run the boat with no issues since purchasing in May 2015. While on vacation last week (of course) I noticed my engine oil reserve was getting low - not empty by any means 1/3 full...but obviously never want to run out of oil.
I purchased a gallon of Mercury Quick Silver 2 cycle oil (told it was the best to use) and dumped it into to the oil reserve tank topping it off. Went to marina filled up with 93 octane gas (as usual) and off I went. Out on the lake the PWC ran perfectly as usual...and then...it slowed and eventually would not run at full RPM. No warning lights came on - no white smoke - I could smell the 2 cycle oil smell as usual...just would not run up to high RPM. I turned off the PWC - removed Lan-yard - plugged back it and pwc starts perfectly no lights - but no power.
I went back to houseboat - changed out the plugs (of course) pwc fired right up no problem...no white smoke no lights. I idled out...slowly accelerated and the pwc came right up on plane with normal RPMs - problem fixed!!! until about 50 yards pwc stopped oil light came on and now pwc will not start...DAMN!
Any body have any thoughts of what damage I may have caused??? - I have done research on 2 cycle oil and data is all over the place. Not sure where to turn next - other than pull the plug an use as an anchor....
Thanks guys!
