2004 Bombardier GTI LE-RFI

Hey there. Total newbie here. We were “given” a 2004 Bombardier GTI LE-RFI and have had a blast with it. Until it stopped working. All the sudden it just won’t “go”. It will rev up when you hit the throttle but it will not go over 10mph and if you keep It throttled it’ll start to smoke out the back. I’m just trying to get some idea about what it could be? Fuel Pump? Wear Ring? I’ve checked and don’t see anything “stuck” in the impeller.

If it still revs up fine then its most likely a wear ring or something blocking the intake grate such as sea weed or sticks
