2003 XPDI Problem please help

New to this forum and to the XPDI. I just bought a 03 XPDI. It looks brand new and was supposed to be in perfect condition. Here goes first ride it started right up. Went out of the cove slow and the Maint light and message goes on. It would run about 30 I let off throttle and Maint goes off and it runs great up to about 58 or so. I run it for about 3 or 4 minutes slow down for a turn then give it gas and it boggs down seems to be running rich smoke out of the exhaust and will only run for about 30 seconds cuts off then starts right back up for another 30 sec up to about 5 mph. I go through this all the way back to shore Maint message and light on. At dealer now any ideas or suggestions what this could be. Thanks

well if its at the dealer now, nothing we can say or do, except they are going to stick it to you, i have had a di motor just once and sold it the second i got it running half way decent, I hear good and bad on those motors, if they are running good and perforimg good they are good, but when there is a problem it is harder to find and could be more things, If looking for skis i just dont look twice at them, that is my opinion tho and i am sure there are some that love them. I am not sure what is causing the light to come on but it sounds like maybe ther is a air leak in the fuel system or something is cloging up on of your filters or something, But then since itd a di i think they have like vacumes and other stuff so more than likely is is a problem with that direct injection. good luck to you man sorry i could not be more help, but let us know what it finaly was when you find out.
