Hey folks. A gent at my work gave a me 2003 gtx 4gtec because he had two and only needed one. It has 65 hours on the engine, and everything looks spic and span. It won't start, seems to be the only issue. Wiring right. I can fix a car, never done pwc's, don't know where to start.

spark , fuel, compression
will it crank?
do you hear the fuel pump cycle?
getting spark?
need more info please

In determining whether or not a motor is capable of running, you have the three things that mudpie just outlined.

Electricity is always first, since the repari of an electrical component can easily outweigh the worth.
Take a spark plug out, lay it on the engine cover or some way to ground the threaded end. Then, spin the motor over, watching to see if you have spark at that plug. IF not, then the reason it's not starting may be due to electricals. Check all your fuses. If you have to, because of not finding a good ground for your plug, you can buy a special tester at your local auto parts store for this procedure.

Next, fuel. You can turn the engine over several times, then pull a plug to see if it's wet with gas. If not, then you could have a fuel pump or problem with the fuel leaving the tank to the engine. When you first put your lanyard on, you should be able to hear the fuel pump run for a minimum of 2 seconds, pumping up the system.

Air? Make sure your engine is getting the air it needs for combustion. No obstructions.

Any codes in the info center?.......

Alright. I honestly get nothing when trying to start up. Not a single sound or reading on the hud. No obstructions for air flow, and new clean gas. All of the fuses are fine. Could it be a laynard issue?

Is your battery good? Do you get beeps when you attach the lanyard and the lcd gauge comes to life?

If no, make sure you're getting power to the MPEM and check the fuses on it. It's directly to the left of the battery(big black electrical panel/box).

I get no noises at all, no responses from any interaction. MPEM is just the Ign module right? Am I allowed to flirt with the battery while it's still in the craft, or should I remove it and test it?

you can jump the battery with another battery or a non running vehicle but it sounds like a dead battery, take it out and have it tested. you'll probably need a new one if it's the original. NEVER jumpstart the seadoo from a running vehicle, it will fry the MPEM which is not just the ignition module, it's the brain of the electronics system.

you should get 2 beeps and the gaues come to life when the lanyard is attached. if you don't, it will never start.

You know, it seems odd that someone gave you a seadoo because they have two. Do you have the lanyard?

I work at palomar airport in carlsbad ca, private owner didn't want the pwc's and gave them to his pilot who in turn gave me one. I have the laynard, yes. Any idea how much a new battery costs?
