I have a 2003 rxdi (947 di) engine that has been running great until today when, i seemed to lose thrust out on the water a couple times. later on in the day the rpm's were limited even with the throttle was pulled all the way and it seemed like the engine was "sputtering". After going to an idle it would then throttle up fine then after a few minutes the same thing would happen. As I was getting close to home and idling in, the ski completely stalled and would not start until i took the key out then put back in. Then it happened again and when i put the key back in a second time, I got nothing- not even a key beep or panel light up. So when i got the ski home in the driveway it started up and appeared to run fine. Any ideas, I have no idea where to even start??

Hello
i too have a 2000 rxdi that misfireing and will not pull up to 7k rpms .Actually when i first start it it will but after about 30 minutes it will not go over 5500 rpms.
But if i shut it down and restart it will go to7k for a few minutes. then it starts topping out a 5500 again. It actually seems like a fuel problem but new fuel pump about a year ago and got good pressures still.
Well today i found out the inpeller ate the wear ring and i guess i got a world of repair there now.
Im starting to think there is too much computer here to make a water craft work well

bad rectifiers can make it run at lower rpms and do wierd things and put it in limp mode, these are common failures and there is an aftermarket rectifier for around $50 instead of the seadoo one for $150 that I have had good luck with.

i recently replaced the rectifier, so i know that is not the problem on my end. I dropped off the ski at seadoo yesterday because I was at a loss for what to do. I will post what they tell me.

I'm sure you changed the plugs, right? DIs run surprisingly well on just one cylinder and the plugs also have a tendency to go in and out when they start to foul so it will surge and then sputter.

yes the plugs were brand new and i cleaned the raves as well and it was still causing an issue, the problem is very intermittent. it would initially run great then if i would slow down then go to speed up again, the rpms would stick and i would hardly move. then it would usually clear up, always when i put the key out then back in again.
