At the end of last season I was having this issue where my ski would intermittently not respond to the throttle and only give me limited rpms and then stall. I ended up dropping it off at a Seadoo Mechanic and they diagnosed the problem as the fuel filter. The fuel filter was backordered for months so I retrofitted a high performance canister filter that can with stand up to 200 psi. I have put a few hours on the ski this season and it seemed to be working fine except I was maxing out at around 6000 rpm's and 55mph.
Now after only about 4 hours I am experiencing the same problem again even with this new filter. It ran okay for about an hour then started to limit the rpm's and stall. I also noticed I was getting more speed and rpms at around 3/4 throttle than at full throttle. I am getting no lights or beeps. I did notice that the engine seemed much warmer than usual, generally even after some hard riding it is cool to the touch.
When it was in the shop the pump was putting out the proper pressure.
Today I pulled the pump thinking maybe I had an excessive amount of sediment in the tank and maybe the pre-filter was clogged. There was minimal sediment and the filter was clean. I am wondering if it is possible that the pump is intermittently putting out the proper pressure?
I am at a loss for what else to do at this point and would hate to take it back to the shop, any help would be appreciated.
