2003 GTX impeller boot not attached

Just changed the wear ring on my ‘03 GTX (recently bought used, still finding my way around it).
The green impeller boot/ring seems to just be sitting up against the impeller— there’s no threads or set screw or anything to keep it from sliding away from the impeller. What am I missing?
My 2008 GTI has a plastic boot that screws in, and filled with grease, so I was expecting something similar.
Parts diagram indicates two things there, and I only see one. Instructions for reassembly only say “insert a new boot 2 and ring 3 to impeller.” Nothing about torque, reverse thread, whatever.
Thoughts?
Two pics are of boot slid forward and back.

Hhmm...the boot on older versions presses into a groove on the prop,,,on the later models,,,the rubber boot threads counterclockwise into the prop,,,your boot looks like anodized aluminum,,,and the prop looks like polished stainless steel,,,which is not stock,,,as far as I recal...
