I have a freshly rebuilt 2003 Seadoo GTX DI. Just finished breaking it in. 140 psi per side. Brand new wear ring. Few nicks on impeller and my top speed confirmed on speedo and gps is 40 mph at 6500 rpm fluctuating to 6700. There is no cavitation just top end poor performance.

The only thing I could think of is the impeller is damaged or bent. Speeds should be atleast 50 mph.

Raves have been cleaned. Machine accelerates with no problem. I'm gonna monitor opas. Other then the impeller what can I focus on? Which pitch impeller should I buy if I get a Solas? 15/20 17/22 ?

a damaged impeller can cause cavataion, and not normally only a loss in top speed. High clearance between the ring and the impeller will cause a loss in speed... but it also causes higher than normal RPM's

For some reason, it seems like your RPM's are a little low. It should be closer to 7000, and the 500 rpm difference will make a big effect on your top speed.

One thing that concerns me... you say you have 140 psi in each jug on a fresh rebuild??? it should be 150. That could be the issue too. The engine will run well... but won't make top power.

If I were you... I would check the gap in your "Squash band." It may be too big.

Dr Honda is there anything else we can check. I have 2001 GTX DI just been rebuild. While i had cavitation i was able to go upto 7200 RPMS, after changing Impeller 15/20 solas and new wear ring, i got 5900~6000 @ 52mph, and was able to squeze upto 6250-6500, upto 58mph, not sure how accurate these readings are, but i think RPMs are low...

Should i be checking fuel filter or smth, or Rave solenoid? If i stop for a little while and rev it to max, i get around 6500 RPMS and i can feel going much faster top speed vs , if i speed up gradually 5900 tops and not running as fast.
