2003 gti starting help

hey,

started out the ther day as a low battery.
threw it on the charger when i got home.
went out the next day, while starting at the boat launch it struggled as a low battery would. Never got it running.
The stuggle turned into a click and a buzz, sounding like the starter wasnt engaging. But I had the same sound when my last battery called it quits.
Took it home again on the charger, still could not get more then a buzz.
Hooked my car battery up, again just a buzz.
Got ready to start getting at the starter, but decided to give it one more shot.
Now no key beeps, no guages, nothing.
checked fuse in line from battery, and the 4 in the fuse box. Am i missing another fuse?

does sound like a starter?

Take battery to an auto parts store and get a free LOAD test.

Load test shows battery is fine.

:ack: Now do the same with the starter. It may need brushes.

That is today's plan, what is confusing me is why I have lost the key beeps to every battery i try.

Has any maintenance ever been done?

Engine was rebuilt last summer, haven't replaced to much other then impeller stuff and plugs and filters, rebuilt starter last spring as well.

update,
have power to the first electrical box from battery, but do not have power leaving that box, even with key engaged.

check the 20/15 amp fuse in there.
