so, the previous owner to my XP used it in salt water... the drive shaft part #:

272000150

is pitted / spotted / rusty / etc.

can I just take some sand paper to the thing?

how hard is it to remove?

I'm seeing $115 - $130 for a new one.

thanks.

I had to put in a new impeller / wear ring last week and got to see it up close and was not that pleased with it's condition...

It's stainless steel... so you would be better off by brushing on Nitric/Hydrofluoric acid. It will remove the scale and rust... and it will close the crystalline structure of the steel.

OR....

Buy a new one if the damage is too great.

If you already took the pump off ur 99% done all u need to do is open the back hatch pull back the carbon collar and remove the c-clip and pull the shaft out and that's it

the pump is back on it, since I wanted to go ride... maybe I'll change it next year then.

thanks!

New wear ring + impeller installed last saturday, so hopefully we can get on the water tonight...

It doesn't appear to impact performance or be causing any issues, but i'm a 100% kind of guy...

I also didn't want it to eat into any of the seals from the pits...
