I have an opportunity to pick up a 2002 rx (not di) for cheap.
Here is the catch...
139 hrs----40 on second motor
Has been sitting up for two years.

1 Is this a good bike model?
2 If so what is the protocol for checking it out? ie fuel sys cleanout, compression, oiling system etc...
3 Should the reeds be checked/cleaned?
4 Best way to purge fuel system.
5 What the hell is a RAVE valve and what does it do.
6 Carb rebuild and adjustment?

I'm quite mechanically inclined and want to do all the check out myself so that if/when I get the bike i'll have fist hand knowledge of its condition. I don't see many posts about the rx in here. I see alot of rxdi issues and problems is that just the direct injection system? Thanks in advance for your help. Hope to be hearing from someone with a similar model...

Nope ,everyone gets responces... Why was the motor replaced with such low hours? And yea the di is troulbe, but you said the rx isnt di, so u dont gotta worry about that

The first motor let go (i was told) while doing some extremely long wide open runs. New motor never ran as hard as first one. Also the "good" brother took car of the bike after the motor exchange. He is now in the middle east serving our country. Also this bike has all of the original grey fuel lines. I assume i'll be told to change them all.

they must of beat that thing to hell....I didnt no newer machines had the grey fuel lines still, but ya, change those out with black ones, and clean the carb sense its been sittin'
