Hey all, I have a 2002 gtx 4tec that will not stay running at idle unless throttle is depressed a fair amount. Runs well when throttled up and open but when slowing down to idle will quit if your not constantly feathering the throttle. Question is do I need a new TPS, idle bypass valve not sure where to start. Thanks

I'd start with resetting the TPS in BUDS. They are pretty reliable and rarely fail but can lose their idle position setting.

Any codes?

Could be idle bypass valve, throttle body, or even the mpem.

Throw a set of plugs at it.before you start ripping it apart.people now a days post stuff and everyone starts trying to prove how smart they think they are and before you know it your machines in a hundred prices you got a 1500 in parts you thought you needed and your machines still not right

No codes runs great when on the the throttle no surging of rpm just kills when I let off the the throttle completely

That's why a say throw a set of plugs in it I work at a dealership and can't count how many machines come in doing the same thing and it is plugs.its cheap and is what I always start doing.most plugs are indexed also so when you install them seat the plug and go a half turn like the box says.for epa reasons everything runs very lean at idle and if electrode us even 90 degrees off they run like crap at an idle

New plugs, starts with slight throttle and rpms go up and down 2200 -1700 continues to do that as long as u have slight throttle pressure. Stops as soon as u let off the throttle
