Hi Everyone,

Just bought a 2001 Seadoo Challenger. The previous owner only used it three times in the last two years. Anyway when I start the boat, Idle or go through no wake zones I am getting putting out alot of smoke. At first I thought it was bad fuel but I have been through two tanks. Engine seams to run good besides the smoke. Does this sound like a oil injection problem? Any advice sure would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i have the same problem in my 97 challenger.. boat runs good, but at low rpm/ take off i get some smoke. is there an adjustment on the amount of oil that the pump puts out??

I am looking into that now. I will let you know by Friday. I am hoping that there is a adjustment screw to turn down the amount of oil going into the engine. Seems to me that the engine is just getting too much oil. It's either that or the oil in the boat is just going bad. I think the engine is getting too much oil from the injector. My seadoo guy is going to look at it either Friday or Saturday. I will let you know what I find out.

Check and see if the cable to the oil pump is broken, if it is as a safeguard the oil pump will go to full open. Which means that at idle you will be using as much oil as when the throttle is at maximum, about 40:1. Also I have not heard of the oil going bad, gas yes, oil no.

Thanks Lou. I will check that on Friday as well.

well mine just got way worse... opened the back to take a look today and the whole oil tank that was full was in the engine compartment. the tanks not cracked. does anyone know where it can be leaking from.. boat was out the other day running good except the smoke when i mashed it??????

There is a grommet at the bottom of the tank that the fitting for the oil supply line fits into. Sometimes the grommet elongates with age causing an oil leak, also check hoses and fittings.
