Long story short, the 2001 RXDi got flipped over and would not start. got it out of the lake and at home pulled the plugs, turned over and blew the water out of the cyl's. (quite a bit came out) per forums my friend put WD40 in the cyl's to prevent rusting. put new plugs in (NGK's) and started briefly to see if it would run. Ran fine. Took to the lake a week later, started fine at the gas station but once we got back in the water the skii would not start. pulled plugs, BLACK, wet and smelled like gas, pulled inj. clips and fired a couple times to blow the cyl's clean. One plug had a chunk of something jammed in it... Couldnt tell if it was metal or what... put plugs back in and the ski would start (just barly) and wouldnt really idle. give it any throttle and it would die. The chunk in the plug concerns me needless to say..

Where to go with it now? another set of new plugs, are they just fouled out? something electronic get wet? Hydro damage to the motor?

I was thinking, do a compression test and a friend said there may be a Reed valve broken or a bent rod... Im a car geek, so i understand the general workings of a motor but not sure what else to do/look for...

Thanks in advance :)

Update...

Skii will run on the trailer and with hose hooked up to it. BUT will not run when in the lake.... take it back out of the lake and put it back on the trailer and it runs perfect.... found another chunk of metal (appears to be) in the cyl. only thing i can think is a chunk of the rave valve...? gunna take them out and inspect them, i hope its not anything internal. Its strange to me that it runs on the trailer but not on the lake.

any other suggestions on what to inspect or look at while im at it?
