Purchased my 2001 gtx DI about a month ago. I was not in a place to test ride it before I bought it so I took a chance. Was shown a receipt showing it was just serviced and new plugs. It did fire right up and sounded strong but had a low fuel alarm.
Took it home and put a couple gallons of gas in and some oil and fired it up. As soon as I revved it the maint alarm sounded then went away back down at idle. I thought perhaps it just needed to be in the water so I took it to the lake. It fired right up and took off like a bat outta hell for about 5 seconds the into maintenance mode. Pulled it out of the lake and noticed milky oil dripping from the two small ports on the inside top of the jet port and there is a puddle of oil inside the hull.
Read a couple posts somewhere that mentioned the air injectors go bad. So I took it to the local shop to have it checked out. The guy said he put it on the computer and the maintenance code was for air injector (coincidence that I had mentioned that to him when I dropped it off?). $480 to replace the air injector. Told me it had no more codes and ran fine. Took it home, fired it up and now the maintenance light came on at idle and went off when I revved it. Once again I took it to the lake. Fired right up but wen into maintenance mode right away. Pulled it back out and once again oil dripping from the ports in jet.
Any guidance for this issue would be greatly appreciated. I cannot afford a bunch of visits to the shop.
Thanks, Val

You have a major oil leak. That is your bilge pump system that just pulls whatever is in the bilge out the jet pump.

Unfortunately you bought one of the most difficult Seadoo's to diagnose but we have some good members here that can help.

And please charge your phone!;)

Phone charging, 28% now, thanks! And thanks for the feedback.
Would the bilge being plugged with oil cause the maintenance mode? I will try to find the oil leak and get that fixed up. Someone told me that the oil tanks on those older sea doo’s split at the seam.

Yes they do split, the bottom grommets leak too.

I would also check the oil injection lines from the pump on the front engine cover to the intake manual as they get brittle and starve the engine of oil.

None of these though should trigger the maintenance light.

Honestly the best tool for your ski is the CanDoo Pro from pwc muscle here @hfgreg so you can diagnose your own ski.

Damn! I guess I should’ve dug into this forum before dishing out the cash for a part that may not have been bad. Oh well, at least I can work on locating the oil leak for free lol.
Thanks much for the help. I’ll update ad I find out what is going on.
