I have an issue that just started. When I put my lanyard on the dess post I get the two beeps, then when I push the start button the fuel pump will come on instead of the starter. The lanyard is only one year old. It will do it one or two more times (push the start button and fuel pump will come on - release the button - push the button and the fuel pump will come on again- release the button push it again and then the Engine starts as normal).Matter of fact when the starter doesn’t engage and the fuel pump comes on-the fuel pump will stay on as long as I hold the start button (I only tried it for five or six seconds max). I had it out today on some very choppy waters and it ran fine and did not cut out whatsoever only when starting the engine does the issue occur. I’m guessing it’s the start/ stop switch but I figured I would ask the experts first,Thank you for any help.

Well I brought the ski home from riding and went to backflush and fog the motor I went to start the engine and it did the same thing but this time since the seats were off I heard the solenoid click. I tried it several more times with the rear e- box cover off and it started every time,(about four or five times) so it’s an intermittent problem. The cables on the solenoid were cleaned last summer. So I’m guessing the solenoid is the problem. The battery voltage is 12.6 V at rest and 10.7 V while cranking with the SPARK plugs in and the wires on the grounding lugs. I’m not sure what a good voltage is while cranking but when the starter does engage it starts no problem. Thanks for any help

That is way too low for an injected ski. Much below 12V and the MPEM will not fire up. I think the absolute minimum is like 11.5.

I have a newer battery on my other ski, I will try cranking voltage with that battery tomorrow and take it from there. In the meantime I will order a starter relay- they are cheap enough and it won’t hurt to have a back up. Thanks for your help I appreciate it.
