I know that carb tuning/pop-off/LS screws/HS screws have all been explained a thousand times. Still not sure I understand it all.
My GTX starts easily cold or hot. A little touchy if you get on the throttle right after cold engine is started, but if I just let it idle a couple of minutes and warm up, it's fine.
When warmed up, if I just steadily start to increase throttle from idle, it's smooth up to 2800. Then it will start to miss/sputter as it the RPMs continue to rise. As soon as the tach hits 4000, it's smooth as glass up to 68/6900.
It the area from 2800 - 4000 I'm curious about. Pop-off is set at 20. OEM jets/needle/seats/airbox. I turned LS from 1 1/2 to 1 1/4 thinking that the miss/sputter was from a rich condition. Made no difference. Afraid to go any lower on the LS screws to see what happens (keep hearing about too lean = too hot = molecular implosion). If I nail the throttler from idle, it hesitates a few milliseconds and then zips up to 68/6900 RPM pulling hard the whole way.
Am I just worried about nothing? (I mean, who ever increases throttle smoothly/steadily anyway??) Is the miss/sputter just a normal thing with these 2 strokes in the mid-range? Or, if that's all I have to worry about, should I just shut up and ride?
Thanks for any input.
