2001 GTS wont start

I have a 2001 GTS. Only had it a few months. Ive had it out a few times and its run fine. Took it to the lake last weekend and it would not turn over at all. It just makes a rather loud clicking noise that seems to be coming from the rear when I push the starter. I put a new battery in because I was told it was junk. Still only clicks when the starter is pushed. I did accidentally run into some shallow water that was muddy and had small debris like tree branches a couple of months ago. I did run it for a few hours after that but I noticed that the engine would rev up higher but the jet ski was not moving as fast. Took more RPM's to get it going especially on take off. It did run however. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

alright, you killed the wear ring, and need to replace the relay (solenoid, where the red cables attach to, inside the box)

How much do these parts typically run? Also can I do at home with standard tools? Thanks for the reply.

Wear ring about $50 and the Solenoid $30 -$40. Both are can be repaired with standard tools.
