I can drive for long time at idle or a little higher but when I gas it, it starts to go then after a second or so everything shuts down. It has a new 720 motor and a very bad impeller. Sometime it putt putts and when running on the hose sounds like the impeller is hitting the venturi.

All fuel lines replaced, carb rebuilt, new plugs, new motor.

What could it be?

Battery?
Rectifier?
MPEM?
Impeller?

Thanks,
Bob

Sounds like the MPEM reset from a low voltage issue.

Since it has a new engine... I would check all the electrical connections.

Will it do this if you rev it up on the trailer? If it will... put a meter on the battery, and start to bring up the RPM's. IF you get to 5000 rpm's... you should be seeing 13.5 to 14.5 volts.

I'll have to guess at 5k, no tach, but I'll try it tomorrow. Thanks.

I tested the eletrical today and it was fine so I decided to take the carb out and check it. One of the small hoses had a tear in it. I fixed it and ran it on the hose and it sounds much better. Will test it on the water tomorrow.

Thanks.

OK... good that you found a bad hose... but that isn't an electrical item. A single beep is that the MPEM isn't reading the lanyard.

I thought about that. I only get the one beep after it dies, wait a few seconds and reconnect and I get two beeps. I'll test it today and post results.

Thanks again.

You were right it still died but ran longer the first time.

It click, click, click like it's trying to turn, or sometime beeps once, or barely turns then beeps once or sometimes if I hold it WOT it starts right away.

Newly rebuilt motor by River Rat Rob in Illinois but used my magneto and stator. I'm lost, any other ideas?

Could it be that the engine was built wrong and the piston is heating up and seizing, then I let it cool down for a few and it shrinks and starts again?

So anyone searching knows. I got it running after a full battery charge, replacing the carb (I think this was the solution) and it's almost perfect.
