Hello!
I have a 2000 xp limited, i got the bike with a seized engine so I don't know if the problem was always there, so I rebuilt the engine fully which is now fine, I can jump the relay and it turns over.
When I connect the lanyard it only beeps once, I have had someone try to reprogram the lanyard but he couldn't do it as the machine won't connect to the control unit.
I have done a self diagnostics test and it beeps once but there is no code for one beep! But if I remove the key it beeps twice so it does know the key is connected.
However when I try to start it it beeps once but does nothing.

I think that it is the control unit not reading the code from the key correctly, but if anyone can help with a way of testing the unit ( as key and post have been) it would really help!!
Many thanks in advance!!!

Either the MPEM has gone bad... or the contact in the lanyard or post is dirty. Try cleaning the contacts with a light abrasive. I like to use either baking soda, or a scotch brite pad.

Hey thanks for reply but I've cleaned all contacts and cleaned again ad checked all wires so proberly is the mpem know if any second hand unit?
Thanks
