2000 sporster no beep!?

green horn here, my 2000 sportster has power to the DESS post (12v to Black/Yellow), power to the "computer" (12v to Red/Blue) blower and bilge pump work but no beeps and no crank. Where do I start chasing?

The third wire on the the post is the switch. Make sure when you put the cap on, you are seeing voltage on that wire. You could have a bad post since even if the lanyard isn't being read out... you would still get one beep.

Posts are known to go bad once in a while.

voltage to switch

thanks doc, the black/yellow wire has 12v without the lanyard installed, the black wire hoes to ground and the white/silver wire has no voltage. with the lanyard installed the black/yellow has no voltage, the blck has .01 and the white/silver has .07. bad post? is there anything i can jump to test or is the key specifically coded to my boat?
