I have a friend that is selling his 2000 speedster its in awesome condition since he bought a new 430hp one awhile back.i dont know much about these boats hence the reason i got on here. the only thing wrong with this boat is that he dove it and water got into the engine and ruined one of the bottom cylinders which ruined the block. he wants 2k for it. how much would it take to get a new engine or customize a different engine in it.

you should get this boat. even for two grand you could part in worst case scenerio. I would not think a new engine would cost over 1 g though.

It has the merc v6 in the 2000 speedster....2k sounds like a heck of deal, but if the block needs work your going to have some huge labor cost, plus machine work etc to get it back in top shape.. I say if you have the extra money and want a great boat then by all means jump on it!

Just did a fractional amount of research thanks to the board and yikes on if you have to buy a new block

Well i was almost thinking of scrapin the v6 idea and putting in a ls1. see i have my own fab shop/hobby shop...i built my own 700rwhp 2001 mustang. so labor cost is nothing since i have everything i need to pull the engine out and do the work myself. I want power. I like the small size of the boat for speed. ls1's are all aluminum so help keep the weight down. i havent looked at the engine compartment yet to see if anything will fit.

he tried fixing it once by having someone fix the block and then put an oversized piston on the bottom cylinders so it would "balance". so block is trashed .
