Hi, We have a year 2000 Seadoo Challenger 5672 with twin rotax 85hp engines - and it is a nightmare.

We bought it several years ago and it has never worked properly. We have had work done by various seadoo dealers and boat repair places but it has never worked the way it should.

The engines may start OK and rev fine out of the water, but as soon as it hits any water they will start and just cut out, or start and then to keep them going you need to rev the hell out of it.

Weirdly, one engine usually seems to be running ok, and then the other one will not start at all..then 10 minutes later the engine which was running ok is completely dead, and the bad one starts running?

We have spent so much money on this boat and it is soul destroying every time we waste our whole day with it. We are not mechanics and know basically nothing about engines, so we just keep having to throw money at it but to no avail.

We just want it to work so we can sell it and buy a boat which actually works from a reliable brand.

Please help.

Let's start with some basics. What is the compression of the engines?

You've had it
For years with Minsk running. How is the quality of the fuel?

Hi,

We dont actually know, and dont know how to find out?

We have just been running the engines again.

They both seem to run perfectly when not in the water? (we are running water through the pipes at the back to avoid damage)

Both engines turn over and rev no problem when ran this way, but as soon as we try it in the loch or sea they just die away? Or one engine works whilst the other one doesnt?

Well I think we need to start with the basics, get compression readings on both engines. Also does your boat still have the grey tempo fuel lines?

Moving this to the 2-stroke boat forum.
