Hi everyone
I`ve got a 2000 rx millenium edition 951cc that was rebuilt about 20 hours ago and runs like a dream but won`t rev past 6700 rpm. Is this normal or should it rev higher ? Its got a standard impellor and everything except the jet pump has been rebuilt.
On flat water the speedo tells me I`m doing 63 mph. Is that about right for one of these crafts.
Any info would be great
Thanks in advance Olive

You are getting to about full speed, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Yes... the 951 engine should be closer to 7000 RPM... but if it's running strong other wise... it's probably fine. The only thing I can think of, is to make sure your RAVE valves are opening fully.

FSM says check RAVEs and water reg. could also be carbs, clogged filter(s), new plugs? does the prop spin freely? I'd inspect the pump as well.
Both of my 951s run 7000 - 7100 WOT, but I run the Solas Concord in both.

Thanks for the info people. I`ve got a set of rave valves out of a 951 injected motor but mine is a carby model.
Will the injected rave valves fit a carby motor ?
Both carbies are new so the filters are good and the impellor is not tight, spins good.
What am I checking for in the water rave ? Pump was rebuilt about 3 months ago

Yes... the RAVE's will fit... but if your engine has been rebuilt, make sure that they fit properly. When the engine gets oversized... the raves need cut.

What's a "Water RAVE"?

'water regulator' take it apart and check for holes / tears in the rubber, or leaks, or clogs. if it's not working right, you won't rev high.

My last '99 GTX did this... I sold it lol..

what's the compression?

I was chasing that last 400 RPM for almost 3 seasons... then sold my '99 and found a '02 with 35 hours on it. (had to drive over 12 hrs to get it though)
