My son has a 2000 GTX RFI.
Over the weekend he ended up sucking up a branch trashing the impeller, and breaking some of the veins in the housing.

Obviously I need to replace the Jet Housing, and wear ring, but are there other options than stock for the impeller?

He Does have the R&D intake on the machine, other than that It is stock.

I did try to find recommendations on the forum, but the GTX and the GTX RFI have completely different Jet Drives, and was only able to find peoples inputs on the GTX.

Also I have not purchased either the pump yet.....kinda figured I would wait for recommendations

Thanks in advance for the help.

If you don't mind me asking.
you say that impellor works well.

Does it give greater bottom end thrust, or upper end speed? Not trying to be a pain, but what do you mean by works well?

Thank you,

Also is there a difference between the pump with gold colored veins, or black ones.
I can get a good looking pump that came off of a 1999 GSX RFI, bit the Veins are Gold, there are 6 of them just like my original, but the only obvious difference is he color.

Someone told me that it wont work on my machine, but according to online microfiche it will.

THX again

Yours came with a larger hub pump I would stay with that. You would need to change the nozzles if you gowith the smaller hub pump to keep performance the same

So the difference in the jet pumps is diameter?
the gold / bronze colored one is smaller than the black one?

It appeared the only difference was the color, but at the same time I am comparing with the pictures.

Not trying to be difficult here, just trying to get his machine going, and save a few bucks at the same time. What is confusing me is that when I look at the Microfiche online the 2 machines take the same pump, but like I said one is all black on the inside, and the one im being offered is gold / bronze colored on the inside.

NOT AT ALL SAYING YOUR WRONG......just trying to get educated.
attached is a pic of the pump im being offered

What hub is different in diameter.....the guy selling says they are the same just one is plastic other is not001.jpg

The center hub where the shaft for the impeller is and the black cone sticks out

See the difference

BTW all RFI pumps are plastic, the gold pump as you call it is actually bronze and never came on an RFI, now as for your impeller question, I will answer your question with a question, what is it you are looking for, more bottom end-takeoff or more top end , you cannot get both.

One more thing asking what kind of impeller is like asking what kind of oil to run in your ski, you will get many different answers, most of them will be correct.

I guess the question I am asking is....is there a better option than the stock ones......YES I completely understand that if I am looking for better hook up It may suffer on top end, and if I get better top end, It may suffer on bottom end hook up.

So if your saying the Solas impellor is a nice option, why (NOT SAYING YOUR WRONG) I value your opinion.
does it hook up real nice and only loose 1 or 2 mph on top end, or does it hook up about the same as stock and give 1 or 2 more MPH on top end.

For example.
On my Kawasaki I ended up going with a hooker from Impros....It hooked up with almost zero cavitation and actually gave me 3 MPH on the top end. This is because someone was able to tell me a custom pitch that they used on their machine, and I gave it a try.

Since he took out the pump and impellor, I figure this is the prefect time to try to make an improvement from stock.
If I can give him a couple of options,

Seriously....THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUTS!!!!

I believe I see the difference, but either way.....you obviously know more than I do about the pump, so I will keep looking for original equipment.

Thanks again,
