Got oil in the bottom of the ski. Have not ridden it for about a month. Got it out yesterday to crank it up, but the starter would just bump in and out. Took the plugs out and it spun over great. Put the plugs in and it cranked up. Dad said cylinders must have had oil in them causing the excess compression. How did the oil get in there, bottom of the boat, etc.??? Thanks, Ms Guy

As far as oil being in the cylinders, the rotary valve seal is probably leaking. Very common. Try turning it over with the plugs out with shop rags over the spark plug holes or maybe a shop vac to suck it out. It is very common to leak, usually people are firing the engine enough in the summer season that it never fills to the point it wont turn over. You usually have more of a problem after it sits all winter. The other scenario could be a leaking crank seal which would mean the motor is about to need a rebuild.

Try to get the oil out and fire it up. Keep a few extra sets of plugs on hand though.

Oil in the bottom of the hull may be a leaking oil tank or a hose.
