This is my first post, and this forum is a great resource. I have read many other posts regarding a similar problem, but I'm still baffled by this one. I initially had the 5 amp fuse blowing problem, fixed that with a new diode, and now seem to have a problem in the rear electrical box. The black wires from the solenoid and coils, which apparently are grounds, connect to a screw at the bottom of the coils, along with another black wire to the harness. I can't get anything to happen unless I ground these wires to the negative post of the battery, at which point everything seems to work correctly. The terminals were corroded, and I have cleaned them up and even replaced the terminal on the black harness wire, thinking I wasn't getting a good connection for the ground, but that didn't seem to help. I have this feeling that I may be overlooking something obvious and just can't figure out what it is. Thanks in advance for this forum and for your assistance!

yes... that's a ground for the rear box. It sounds like you have a corroded/broken wire somewhere. So... just run a new ground. I would run 2 of them. One to the engine block, and one to the battery.

Thanks so much for your response, and I pulled out the wiring diagram and was studying it, and started looking around, and found that that I had failed to re-connect the ground at the front of the engine on the flywheel cover, after pulling the cover off to see if there were parts of the magneto in there. The wire had apparently fallen out of sight, and I should have been bright enough not have allowed that to happen. I can chalk that experience up to poor technique, which seems to often be my downfall when it comes to mechanical issues. Like I said in my first post, I had a feeling the solution should be obvious. Thanks again for your help and for all the great resources of this forum.

Im brand new to the world of PWC. I just got a 2000 gti seadoo and was running it today I was on full throttle and then it cut out. Got it home and found that the 5 amp fuse was blown. I noticed in this thread you had mentioned the same problem at the begining of your post.
What was the fix for this problem. I put in a new fuse and got nothing no power. What did you do to fix this problem. Thanks

I don't think you have the same problem, the 5 amp. fuse is the fuse for the MPEM, the best thing to do is start a new thread explaining your problem.

Here's a link to the perpetual 5 amp fuse blowing problem, but it is my understanding that this is the fix for the fuse blowing perpetually every time you replace it, as long as the battery is connected. Usually this diode is fried from jumping the jet ski from a running vehicly or reversing polarity when connecting the battery charger, I have read. Anyway, here's the link to the fix that I did: http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?21634-Mpem-repair-97-GS-GTI&highlight=amp+fuse

Good luck!
