To make a long story short I bought a 2000 Challenger Twin Engine. It came with the trailer, boat,Bimini top, two covers and a whole bunch of other stuff. I paid $1,600 for it. I compression checked the boat before I made an offer. It needs new foam in a few places and new upholstery

One engine has 150-155 compression on both cylinders and will fire up and run fine.

The second engine has 80psi and 110psi. It will not crank of course.

Today I tore the top end off the bad engine. Here are the results....... The top edges of the piston all the way around are badly pitted and busted off in random chunks. One cylinder wall is smooth and shines but the other is dark and black/brown and scraped on one side. I believe a rebuilt engine from SBT is in order

I tried to post pictures but they are too big and I'm on my mobile device

What are you guys opinions on the deal and input thanks

I am not a 2-stroke guy, but I think the raves may be the issue. If the Rave hits the piston it will break it apart.

Also, a lean condition will put holes in pistons and pretty well tear them up.

I see you have started a second basically identical thread. I will close this thread with a re-direct to your other post in the "boat" section.
