Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and to a Seadoo boat as well. I just bought a 2000 Challenger and took it out for the first time tonight. It started off well. I had good power, front of boat raised up quickly and away we went. I stopped, so my boys can through a line in for a few minutes. When we fired it back up the RPM's were up to 4000-5000 and I wasn't hardly going anywhere, lots of noise but no power. I slowly went back to shore, took boat out. i was pissed, new boat, problems already.... did I waste my money ???
I own a 94 SPX and had similar issues. What it was, was the wear ring had got damaged from sucking in sand/gravel from the beach. i thought it might be that.
When I got home I checked out the intake, and low and behold. I sucked in a lot of sea weed and it was wrapped around the impeller shaft and I'm assuming not allowing the sufficient amount of water for the pumps to get me moving. I could still see the impeller , just not alot of it.
Sorry for the long story, but my question is. Is there anything else I could have damaged with sucking in the sea weed?
